Think you’re the know-it-all of Galveston? Come flex those brain muscles and join us for a series of trivia nights supporting Galveston Historical Foundation and the Tall Ship ELISSA!

Held on the second Thursday of each month, our Smarty Pints Trivia Nights are all-ages evenings held at the Galveston Historic Seaport’s ELISSA Room. Craft beer and snacks will be available for purchase and we’ll open the gates at 6 for dockside access before heading up to test your smarts at 6:30.

Bring your besties, your brainiacs, and maybe even your “lucky guessers.” With categories ranging from local history to pop culture, there’s something for everyone.

Join Galveston Historical Foundation and the Galveston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc on Saturday for an Official Texas Historical Undertold Marker Dedication Ceremony at 10 am at the McGuire-Dent Recereation Center, 2222 28th Street in Galveston.As one of the most visible programs of the Texas Historical Commission, historical markers commemorate diverse topics in Texas history, including: the history and architecture of houses, commercial and public buildings, religious congregations, and military sites; events that changed the course of local and state history; and individuals who have made lasting contributions to our state, community organizations, and businesses. Jessie May McGuire Dent was an important Galveston Civil Rights figure born in Galveston on March 24, 1892, to Robert & Alberta (Mabson) McGuire. In 1909, she graduated as Valedictorian from Central High School. While a student at Howard University, she became one of the 22 Founding Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in 1913, a Public Service Sorority. Upon returning to Galveston, Texas, she taught English and Latin at Central High School and became Dean of Students. Taking a leadership role, she was active in supporting the underserved.
