1892 BISHOP’S PALACE – full information

As you explore the 1892 Bishop’s Palace, you will see and experience the history of Galveston in every stone, every inch of hand-carved wood, and piece of intricate design work present.  With 19,000 square feet and 52 rooms, Bishop’s Palace was designed by famed architect Nicholas Clayton and built by the finest artisans, using the very best materials. Originally called the Gresham House, this National Historic Landmark reflects the spirit of Galveston’s prosperity and embodies the city’s own gilded age.

Adults $10 ; Youth (6 through18) $7;  Children 5 and under, free. Adult prearranged group tours [20 or more people] $7.00 per person

TEXAS SEAPORT MUSEUM – full information
Pier 21 & Harborside

Share the adventure of the high seas at the Texas Seaport Museum, home of the celebrated 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA. Walk ELISSA’s decks and imagine the days when daring sailors challenged the world's oceans. In the adjacent museum and theater, witness the story of ELISSA’S dramatic rescue from the scrap yard and her meticulous restoration.  Visit ELISSA at her temporary berth at Pier 21 at the foot of 21st street just east of Texas Seaport Museum and next to Olympia Grill restaurant. Purchase admission tickets and harbor tour tickets in our white tent on the dock.

Open 10am - 5pm daily (last ticket is sold at 4:30pm)

Adults $8; Youth (6 though 18) $8; Children 5 and under, $5. [Age 19 yrs and up]

HISTORIC HARBOR TOUR AND DOLPHIN WATCH – full information
Pier 21 & Harborside

See Galveston Harbor up close aboard Seagull II, Texas Seaport Museum's 50-foot twin-engine motor vessel. Fast, stable and sheltered, she was built specifically for harbor sight-seeing excursions. Seagull II is restroom-equipped, offers soft drinks and bottled water for sale, and has a comfortable main deck, sheltered from sun and rain. An open upper deck affords a full panorama of water and sky. Harbor Tours aboard Seagull II are temporarily operating next to ELISSA at Pier 21 at the foot of 21st street just east of the Texas Seaport Museum and next to Olympia Grill. Purchase tickets in our white tent on the end of the dock.

Harbor tours depart at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. Reservations are not required for groups of less than 20.

PIER 21 THEATER – full information

Experience Galveston’s past by way of three fantastic presentations at Pier 21 Theater! The theater is located on the south-east corner of Willie G’s on the 2nd floor at Harborside Drive and 21st St.

The Great Storm : The Great Storm, the story of the 1900 hurricane that hit Galveston Island on Sept. 8, has been digitally restored from its 35MM slide presentation to an advanced wide-screen, high definition format. This documentary shares the personal stories of survivors and the recovery of Galveston following the deadliest natural disaster in United States history.

Shows daily every hour on the hour, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students, ages 6 to 18, and free for children under 6.

The Pirate Island of Jean Laffite : Pirate or patriot? Smuggler or businessman? Merciless murderer and thief, or hero in time of war? These are the contradictions of the legendary Jean Laffite. His harsh actions have secured his place in infamy, but his motives remain a mystery to this day. Whatever the reasons, the mere mention of Laffite in the early decades of the 1800s sent merchant ships throughout the Gulf of Mexico racing for safe harbor.

Shows daily every half hour, from 11:30 – 5:30.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students, ages 6 to 18, and free for children under 6.

Galveston – Gateway on the Gulf : Between 1835 and 1935, more than 200,000 immigrants from all over the world entered the United States through Galveston, Texas. Their stories are as rich and diverse as their origins, and they gave the island a most unique cultural heritage which continues today.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for students, ages 6 to 18, and free for children under 6.
