Nicholas Clayton Tour

Galveston Historical Foundation To Offer Nicholas Clayton Tour Saturday, November 24

Galveston Island, Texas, November 2, 2012 – One of Galveston Island’s leading architects, Nicholas J. Clayton, will be featured on an upcoming electric shuttle tour highlighting his work and life on Saturday, November 24. The tour will last approximately 1 hour and will run regardless of weather. Price for the tour is $15 and reservations can be made by calling 409-765-8687. Tours will be available at 10 am and noon and are limited to 10 people per tour.

Led by GHF’s Preservation Services Project Coordinator Matt Farragher, the tour will focus the numerous commercial, institutional, and residential works of Nicholas Clayton throughout Galveston’s East End Historic District and downtown. What brought Clayton to Galveston, his professional influences and training, his architectural style, and the effects his work had on the island will all be discussed.
